Washington (September 4, 2025): U.S. President Donald Trump praised China’s recent military parade as “beautiful and very impressive,” but expressed disappointment that President Xi Jinping did not acknowledge the United States in his speech.
Speaking at the White House alongside Polish President Karol Nawocki, Trump lauded the scale and presentation of the parade but noted what he saw as a glaring omission. “I listened to President Xi’s speech he’s my friend but the United States should have been mentioned. We’ve helped China a lot over the years,” Trump told reporters.
While highlighting his personal rapport with Xi, Trump underscored that U.S. contributions to China’s development warranted recognition. His comments come amid a delicate phase in U.S.-China relations, where competition and cooperation continue to overlap.
Turning to Russia, Trump suggested that the coming weeks would reveal the true state of ties between Washington and Moscow. Without directly naming Russian President Vladimir Putin, Trump confirmed he would be holding talks soon. “There’s no message for the Russian president,” he said. “He knows my position. He’ll make a decision one way or the other. We’ll be happy or unhappy depending on that decision and if we’re unhappy, you’ll see the reaction.”
Trump’s remarks reflect his characteristic blend of praise and criticism, as he continues to balance personal diplomacy with strategic rivalries on the global stage.
