Trump Claims Nuclear War Between Pakistan and India Was Averted Within Days

Washington: US President Donald Trump has claimed that his administration prevented a potential nuclear conflict between Pakistan and India that could have erupted within a week if tensions had continued to escalate.

According to details, President Trump made these remarks during a media interaction following his meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte at the White House. Referring to heightened tensions between Islamabad and New Delhi, he said,

“We were successful in stopping a war between Pakistan and India. If we had not intervened, there could have been a nuclear war within a week.”

Trump added that the leaders of both countries were “very strong,” but his administration managed to defuse the crisis by engaging them through trade and diplomatic channels.

It is worth noting that earlier this month, after a dinner meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, President Trump also spoke about Pakistan and India, stating that both are nuclear-armed nations and he had offered them trade incentives as an alternative to conflict.

Speaking at an event in Iowa marking the 250th anniversary of America’s Independence Day, President Trump reiterated his stance, saying,

“A war between Pakistan and India should have been prevented. Both countries have nuclear weapons, and a nuclear conflict could have started between them, but we stopped it.”

Trump has often highlighted his role in defusing tensions in South Asia, claiming that direct US intervention under his leadership helped avert what could have been a catastrophic nuclear exchange between the two neighbours.
