Sohaib Maqsood Claims Massive Car Scam, Appeals to Punjab CM for Justice

WEB DESK: Pakistani cricketer Sohaib Maqsood has come forward with serious allegations of being cheated in a large-scale car fraud, saying he lost over PKR 14 million to a showroom owner in Multan.

In multiple posts on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Maqsood revealed that the accused showroom owner sold his luxury car worth around PKR 1.4 crore without his approval and even without the original documents, which are still in his possession. In return, Maqsood said he was handed another vehicle with fake registration papers, while the fraudster allegedly managed to take an additional PKR 7 million from him.

The cricketer appealed directly to Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the Punjab Police, and other concerned authorities to investigate the case thoroughly and bring the culprits to justice. He urged them to take strict action against those who “deceive people and exploit their hard-earned money.”

Sharing further details, Maqsood said that after nearly eight months of searching, he managed to trace his missing car to a house in Lahore. However, when he approached the individual in possession of the car, the person refused to return it, claiming he had purchased it legitimately and arrogantly saying that “even the police can’t take this car from this house.”

Frustrated by the lack of justice, Maqsood expressed deep concern over the growing lawlessness, remarking that if a national athlete could fall victim to such fraud, “one can only imagine what ordinary citizens must be going through.”

He called upon the authorities to ensure accountability and take decisive action against such criminal networks to restore public confidence in the system.

Following his revelations, many social media users rallied behind Maqsood, condemning the incident and urging the Punjab government to take swift action. Several also lamented that such frauds are becoming alarmingly common in Pakistan’s auto trade.
