Beijing: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif hailed the leadership of Chinese President Xi Jinping, crediting him with steering nearly 800 million people out of poverty and setting a global example of progress and stability.
During his official visit to Beijing, the Prime Minister held a high-level meeting with President Xi Jinping. The delegation from Pakistan included Army Chief Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, and federal ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Attaullah Tarar, and Mohsin Naqvi.
The two leaders discussed regional dynamics and a wide range of bilateral matters. Praising President Xi’s vision, Shehbaz Sharif described him as a “symbol of strength and stability,” noting that landmark projects such as the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) reflect the shared commitment of both nations to development and cooperation.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s strong ties with Beijing, the Prime Minister said, “Over 200 million Pakistanis regard China’s friendship as something deeply cherished and close to their hearts.”
The Prime Minister is also scheduled to hold meetings with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Tajik President Emomali Rahmon during his stay in China. In addition, he will participate in the 80th anniversary commemoration of the global struggle against fascism and deliver an address at the Pak-China Business-to-Business Conference to boost investment and economic collaboration.
It is worth mentioning that a day earlier, Shehbaz Sharif addressed the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Tianjin, where he expressed gratitude to President Xi for his warm hospitality and extended felicitations to Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan on their respective national days.
