ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has departed for Riyadh to attend the Ninth Edition of the Future Investment Initiative (FII9), one of the world’s most influential economic and investment conferences, being held from October 27 to 29, 2025.
The visit comes at the invitation of Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, reflecting the growing warmth and cooperation between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. The Prime Minister is accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar, as well as senior members of his cabinet and top government officials.
This year’s FII conference, themed “The Key to Prosperity: Unlocking New Frontiers of Growth,” will bring together an impressive lineup of global leaders, investors, policymakers, and innovators. The event aims to explore the next wave of opportunities in the global economy, focusing on innovation, sustainability, inclusive growth, and evolving geopolitical dynamics.
During his visit, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is scheduled to meet with the Saudi leadership to discuss ways to deepen cooperation in key sectors, including trade, investment, energy, and human resource development. According to the Foreign Office, the two sides will also exchange views on regional and global developments of shared concern.
On the sidelines of the FII summit, the Prime Minister is expected to hold a series of high-level meetings with leaders of participating countries, heads of international organizations, and major investors. These engagements will focus on promoting Pakistan’s investment potential and reaffirming its commitment to sustainable and inclusive economic growth.
Officials say the visit underscores Pakistan’s broader economic diplomacy agenda, aimed at building long-term partnerships in renewable energy, technology, and infrastructure development sectors that align closely with the “Think, Exchange, and Act” model championed by the FII platform.
The Foreign Office noted that Prime Minister Shehbaz’s participation in FII9 demonstrates Pakistan’s determination to strengthen global economic engagement and attract meaningful foreign investment to power the country’s development and prosperity.
“This visit represents not just diplomacy, but Pakistan’s vision for a stronger, self-reliant future built on global cooperation and innovation,” a senior official said.
