RIYADH — In a significant acknowledgment of Pakistan’s contributions to regional security and military cooperation, General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), has been awarded the prestigious King Abdulaziz Medal of Honor by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The medal, one of Saudi Arabia’s highest civilian and military distinctions, was presented to General Mirza during his recent official visit to the kingdom. The award recognizes his efforts in strengthening defense collaboration and fostering closer ties between the armed forces of Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
During the visit, General Mirza held an important meeting with the Chief of General Staff of the Saudi Armed Forces, where both sides discussed regional peace, evolving security challenges, and ways to deepen defense cooperation. The two military leaders reaffirmed that the partnership between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia rests on decades of mutual trust, strategic alignment, and shared interests in maintaining regional stability.
Saudi officials praised Pakistan’s continued support in defense and security matters, acknowledging the close coordination that exists between the two allies. In turn, General Mirza reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further enhancing bilateral military cooperation through joint training programs, technology sharing, and strategic communication.
The visit also opened new avenues for collaboration in defense production and modernization initiatives. Analysts say this engagement reflects the growing depth of Pakistan-Saudi relations, especially at a time when the broader region faces complex security and geopolitical challenges.
Both sides emphasized that their relationship is anchored in mutual respect and shared goals, expressing confidence that continued cooperation will play a vital role in promoting lasting peace and stability in the Middle East and South Asia.
