UNITED NATIONS: Pakistan has reiterated its firm belief that the Iran nuclear issue must be resolved through diplomacy, dialogue, and peaceful negotiations — not confrontation.
Speaking at a UN Security Council briefing, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, stressed the importance of sustained diplomatic engagement to address concerns surrounding Iran’s nuclear program.
He also welcomed the recently announced ceasefire understanding between Iran and Israel, describing it as a “positive and much-needed development” amid heightened regional tensions.
“We commend all those who played a constructive role in facilitating this breakthrough,” said Ambassador Ahmad. “It is our hope that this step will help pave the way toward lasting peace and stability in the Middle East.”
Pakistan has long maintained that durable peace in the region depends on de-escalation, mutual respect, and the consistent use of diplomatic channels to resolve disputes — a message it continues to uphold on global platforms like the UN.
