Pakistan to Witness the Biggest and Brightest Supermoon of 2025 the “Beaver Moon” for Two Nights

Sky watchers across Pakistan are in for a stunning celestial treat as the largest and brightest Supermoon of 2025 known as the “Beaver Moon” will illuminate the skies on November 4 and 5 (Tuesday and Wednesday).

The term “Beaver Moon” originates from Native American and early colonial traditions, marking the period when hunters and trappers would set beaver traps before winter froze the wetlands.

This month’s Supermoon will appear exceptionally large and luminous, as the Moon reaches its closest point to Earth in orbit just about 221,817 miles away, roughly 2,800 miles nearer than October’s full moon.

According to NASA, the Moon doesn’t physically grow in size, but this proximity can make it appear up to 14% larger and 30% brighter than when it’s at its farthest distance from Earth.

Adding even more beauty to the night sky, the Taurid meteor showers will accompany the Supermoon, sending occasional bright and slow-moving fireballs streaking across the heavens. Meteor expert Robert Lunsford explained that while November won’t bring a major meteor storm, the Northern and Southern Taurids, along with the Leonids, will ensure that stargazers have plenty to admire.

When to Watch

The best time to experience the Super Beaver Moon will be at moonrise on Tuesday evening (Nov 4), with another spectacular view possible the following night.

Viewers might also notice the “Moon Illusion” a fascinating natural effect that makes the Moon appear unusually large near the horizon when viewed against trees or buildings.

Astronomy experts recommend choosing a dark, open location with a clear eastern horizon and minimal artificial light to fully enjoy this breathtaking cosmic show.
