Pakistan Taught India “A Lesson to Remember for Life,” Says PM Shehbaz

LONDON — Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has declared that Pakistan delivered India a “lesson it will remember for life” during Marka-e-Haq, the recent military operation launched in response to Indian aggression.

Speaking to Pakistani journalists based in the UK, the prime minister described the campaign—officially named Operation Bunyanum Marsoos—as a decisive victory for Pakistan’s armed forces, who, he said, demonstrated remarkable discipline and strategic clarity. The government has since hailed the operation as a “magnificent success” and designated May 10 as Youm-e-Marka-e-Haq to honour the sacrifices of the country’s soldiers.

Addressing defence ties with Saudi Arabia, Shehbaz clarified that Pakistan’s new security pact with Riyadh was “not against anyone” but rooted in decades of mutual trust. The agreement stipulates that an attack on one nation will be treated as an attack on the other, with both sides committed to responding after mutual consultation.

The premier also highlighted his close coordination with Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir, saying he regularly seeks input on matters of national interest, particularly foreign policy.

“Highly Productive” Meeting with Trump

Shehbaz described his recent meeting with US President Donald Trump in Washington as “highly productive and constructive,” noting that the American leader pledged to advance bilateral economic cooperation.

On the economic front, the prime minister said Pakistan had stabilized its macroeconomic fundamentals and was working to accelerate growth despite widespread flood damage. He pointed to initiatives aimed at poverty alleviation, job creation, foreign investment, and development in key sectors such as agriculture, information technology, and mineral resources. “Friendly countries are ready to extend full support to Pakistan in harnessing its natural wealth,” he said.

Raising Kashmir and Gaza at the UN

Reaffirming Pakistan’s resolve to eradicate terrorism, Shehbaz praised the sacrifices of security forces and stressed that their contributions would never be forgotten. He also emphasized that Pakistan has consistently raised the plight of oppressed communities particularly Kashmiris and Palestinians on international platforms, including the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

The prime minister described the humanitarian crisis in Gaza as a form of oppression and brutality “never seen before in the world.” However, he expressed optimism that the upcoming Arab-Islamic summit, chaired by President Trump, would produce “encouraging results” for Palestinians.

“Sincerity, Hard Work, and Team Effort”

Earlier, while addressing overseas Pakistanis at the High Commission in London, Shehbaz credited his government’s achievements to “sincerity, hard work, and team effort.” He underscored that his administration’s current focus is on sustaining economic growth, attracting investment, reducing unemployment, and unlocking the potential of Pakistan’s most promising industries.
