Pakistan Set to Introduce E-Gates at Major Airports

In a significant move toward modernizing air travel, Pakistan is all set to roll out e-Gates at three of its busiest airports — Islamabad, Karachi, and Lahore.

The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has finalized the design for these e-Gates, which will make immigration and security checks smoother and faster for travelers. The idea is simple but impactful: replace long queues and manual checks with smart, biometric-based processing. That means quicker clearances, shorter wait times, and a better overall experience — especially for frequent flyers.

This major milestone comes after three days of detailed consultations with aviation experts and relevant authorities. The design work, done in collaboration with international experts, ensures that Pakistan’s new systems will meet global standards.

Now that the design is ready, the German firm M2P Consulting has been brought on board to prepare the technical documents and specifications needed to bring this project to life. Their job will be to lay the groundwork so the best global companies can bid for the project.

The e-Gates are just one part of a broader push by PAA to bring smart solutions to airports across the country. From better infrastructure to more efficient systems, the goal is clear: make flying in and out of Pakistan easier, safer, and more modern for everyone.
