Pakistan Reaffirms Zero Tolerance for Terrorism, Urges Objective Global Response

Islamabad | July 19, 2025

In a firm and clear stance against terrorism, Pakistan on Friday reiterated its unwavering commitment to fighting the menace in all its forms and manifestations. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a strongly worded statement emphasizing Pakistan’s long-standing zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism, while urging the international community to adopt a fair and non-discriminatory approach in counterterrorism efforts.

“Pakistan remains a frontline state in the global fight against terrorism,” the statement read, underscoring the country’s decades-long struggle, sacrifices, and contributions toward international peace and security.

Rejecting Politically Motivated Narratives

The Foreign Office dismissed what it called “politically driven narratives” aimed at tarnishing Pakistan’s image on the world stage. These remarks came in the wake of attempts to link Pakistan with the April 22 Pahalgam attack in Indian-administered Kashmir, which claimed 26 civilian lives.

“The incident took place in a disputed region under India’s illegal occupation. Linking Pakistan to it not only distorts ground realities but also reflects a deliberate political agenda,” the ministry stated.

A Track Record of Action

Highlighting its counterterrorism credentials, Pakistan cited the recent arrest of Sharifullah, the alleged mastermind behind the deadly Abbey Gate bombing, as proof of its active and ongoing commitment to global security.

The statement noted that Pakistan has consistently taken decisive steps — dismantling terror networks, prosecuting their leadership, and rehabilitating radicalized individuals. “Our actions speak for themselves. Pakistan has gone beyond rhetoric and has delivered measurable results,” it emphasized.

On the issue of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) being associated with the Pahalgam incident, the ministry flatly rejected the claim. “Any such linkage belies facts on the ground and is part of a broader disinformation campaign,” the Foreign Office asserted.

Calling Out Double Standards

In a rare direct critique, Pakistan accused India of using terrorist designations selectively to advance its political narrative and deflect attention from its own human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJ&K).

“India continues to exploit international platforms to push anti-Pakistan propaganda, while ignoring its own track record of state-sponsored violence and suppression in Kashmir,” the statement said.

Pakistan also raised concerns over international inconsistency in listing terror groups. It urged that organizations like the Majeed Brigade be recognized under the umbrella of the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), citing their violent activities and operational links.

A Call for Collective Responsibility

The ministry concluded by urging the global community to adopt a balanced and evidence-based approach to counterterrorism. “Selective application of counterterrorism norms only weakens the international resolve. There is no room for political expediency in the fight against terrorism,” the statement warned.

As Pakistan doubles down on its counterterrorism commitments, it has once again drawn attention to the need for unity, fairness, and integrity in global efforts to combat extremism — a message that resonates far beyond its borders.
