Pakistan Army Intensifies Rescue and Relief Efforts in Flood-Hit Regions

The Pakistan Army has ramped up rescue and relief operations in flood-stricken areas, with Engineer Corps units actively working in Shangla and Buner to restore connectivity and support stranded communities.

According to official updates, Pir Baba Bypass has been reopened for all types of traffic after continuous overnight efforts by army personnel, who cleared debris from Pir Baba Bazaar to facilitate local residents.

Troops and heavy machinery also restored 20 kilometers of the landslide-hit Aloch Puran Road at seven key points, re-establishing ground access to Puran village. Officials confirmed that relief operations will remain ongoing until full rehabilitation is achieved.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Meteorological Department has warned of further rainfall in Karachi and parts of Sindh. Forecasters noted that the monsoon system over the province remains active due to low atmospheric pressure, which is likely to bring more showers accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms.

In Karachi, heavy downpours are expected from noon through the evening, with a risk of urban flooding in low-lying neighborhoods. Meteorologists added that while the intensity of the system may begin to weaken later tonight, rainfall is expected to continue into Friday. On Thursday morning, Karachi recorded a minimum temperature of 28°C, with highs expected to reach around 31°C
