ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan Army has announced that its personnel will contribute one day’s salary to support the rehabilitation of flood victims in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as relief and rescue operations continue in the affected districts.
According to security officials, Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir emphasized that the military will extend full support to those devastated by the floods. Additional contingents of troops have already been mobilized to assist with rescue and relief work.
In addition to the salary contribution, the Army has allocated its one-day ration estimated at more than 600 tons for the victims. General Munir has directed the Corps of Engineers to expedite the repair of damaged bridges and to install temporary crossings wherever needed to restore access to cut-off areas.
Specialized units, including the Army’s Ninth Unit Rescue Dog Squad and the Urban Search and Rescue Team, have also been deployed to bolster ongoing operations. Army helicopters and aviation assets are already active in transporting supplies and evacuating stranded residents.
Security sources underscored that the Pakistan Army “stands shoulder to shoulder with the resilient people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in this difficult time” and vowed to continue relief efforts until the situation stabilizes.
