CHAGAI – June 23, 2025: As tensions in the Middle East continue to escalate, a total of 1,814 Pakistani nationals have returned from Iran to Chagai district, local authorities confirmed on Sunday.
According to district officials, those returning include 428 pilgrims, 655 students, 566 tourists, and 160 deportees. In addition, five foreign nationals also made the journey back to Pakistan via the Taftan border. On Sunday alone, 112 tourists and 24 students were received at the border crossing.
The Deputy Commissioner of Chagai assured that all necessary facilities are being provided to the returning citizens. “We are doing everything possible to assist those coming back from Iran and ensure they are well taken care of during the transition,” he said.
The return of these Pakistanis comes at a time of heightened instability in the region, particularly due to growing tensions between Israel and Iran.
Last week, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar confirmed that at least 450 Pakistani pilgrims had already been repatriated from Iran. In a post on social media, Dar stated that the government was actively working to ensure the safe return of Pakistani students and other nationals still in Iran.
Dar also highlighted that the Pakistani Embassy in Baghdad is in close contact with citizens stranded in Iraq. Many pilgrims have been affected by the closure of Iraq’s airspace, and the government is making arrangements to ensure their safety and eventual return home.
Meanwhile, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has launched a special operation to facilitate the evacuation of stranded Pakistanis from Iran. As part of this effort, a PIA aircraft departed from Peshawar to Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan, last Tuesday to support repatriation logistics.
With the situation in the region still uncertain, authorities continue to monitor developments closely and have pledged to take all necessary steps to bring Pakistani nationals home safely.
