RAWALPINDI – Pakistan Army Chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir, marked the country’s 78th Independence Day with a powerful message of unity and resolve, assuring the nation that its armed forces remain fully prepared to defend every inch of its homeland
In his statement, the army chief described the trust and confidence of the people as the military’s “greatest strength,” vowing that there would be no concession when it came to safeguarding Pakistan’s independence and sovereignty. “The Pakistan Army is ready to meet any challenge head-on and will give a decisive response to any threat against our national integrity,” he asserted.
Paying homage to the visionaries who laid the foundation of Pakistan, Munir called the country a resilient stronghold of the Muslim world and a rare example of interfaith harmony, acknowledging the valuable role minority communities have played in the nation’s progress.
Reflecting on Pakistan’s long battle against terrorism, he reminded the public of the immense human and economic sacrifices made in the fight to protect the country’s future. He also reiterated Islamabad’s long-standing position on the 2019 Pulwama incident, urging for impartial global investigations.
The army chief accused India of continued aggression and deliberate targeting of civilians, pointing to the recent “Marka-e-Haq” operation as proof of the armed forces’ bravery and determination. At the same time, he underlined Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace and prosperity.
Expressing unwavering solidarity with the people of Indian-administered Kashmir, Munir repeated that the right to self-determination was the only just and lasting solution to the dispute. He also voiced support for the Palestinian cause, calling on the international community to ensure their fundamental rights without further delay.
