NADRA Rolls Out New Policy for Children’s Passports and Family Records

ISLAMABAD – NADRA has announced a significant update to its registration and identity documentation process, particularly affecting children and family-related records across Pakistan.

Under the new rules, the B-Form will no longer be accepted for children’s passport applications. Parents must now obtain a Child Registration Certificate (CRC) for this purpose. According to NADRA officials, this change strengthens each child’s individual identity and improves data security.

Additionally, NADRA has officially granted legal status to the Family Registration Certificate (FRC), which can now be used in legal matters such as inheritance cases and court proceedings, expanding its role beyond simple recordkeeping.

The redesigned FRC format now supports more detailed family configurations. It includes information for:

  • Parents and siblings
  • Married couples with children
  • Men with multiple marriages, showing each marriage’s family details separately

NADRA has also introduced three family categories under the new policy:

  • Alpha (by birth)
  • Beta (by marriage)
  • Gamma (by adoption)

Anyone with missing or incorrect information must update their record either through NADRA offices or via the mobile app. FRCs are issued strictly based on the information available in NADRA’s system. Applicants now also need to submit a sworn declaration confirming the accuracy of their data.

This move is aimed at reducing confusion and ensuring that all legal and familial documentation reflects current and complete information—especially in cases of multiple marriages, where the new system clearly outlines all relations.
