RAWALPINDI – The Metro Bus Service in Rawalpindi will remain partially suspended today (Friday) in connection with the Chehlum of the martyrs of Karbala. Officials announced that the service between Saddar Station in Rawalpindi and Faizabad will not operate for the day due to security arrangements for mourning processions.
According to the Metro Bus administration, operations within Islamabad from IJP Station to the Pak Secretariat will continue as usual. The partial suspension follows instructions from the district administration, aimed at ensuring the safety and smooth management of processions in the twin cities.
Authorities have urged commuters travelling on the affected Rawalpindi route to make alternative transport arrangements. The decision, they said, was taken in view of heightened security needs during the Chehlum, which is being observed nationwide with solemnity and religious devotion.
Processions to mark the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions are being held across the country, commemorating their ultimate sacrifice for the cause of Islam. In Karachi, the main mourning procession will begin at Nishtar Park and conclude at Hussainia Iranian Imambargah in Kharadar after passing through its traditional route.
Security officials confirmed that all entry points along procession routes have been sealed with containers, and additional contingents of police and Rangers have been deployed at key locations, including Numaish and surrounding areas.
