Memoona Qudoos Sparks Debate: “Lahore Showbiz Dirtier Than Karachi”

Lahore/Karachi – Actress Memoona Qudoos has stirred controversy after openly criticizing the culture of Pakistan’s entertainment industry, claiming that the showbiz scene in Lahore is plagued by more questionable practices than Karachi.

Speaking in a candid podcast interview, Qudoos alleged that activities such as homosexuality and flashy public parties are far more visible in Lahore’s entertainment circles. While acknowledging that similar issues exist in Karachi, she argued that they are comparatively less pronounced.

“These wrong things should stay private, not be flaunted openly,” she remarked during the discussion.

Lahore vs. Karachi: Two Contrasting Worlds

Qudoos drew sharp comparisons between the two cities, describing Lahore’s industry as one where people often “show off” wealth and lifestyles that don’t actually exist. Karachi, on the other hand, she described as intensely professional sometimes, in her words, to the point of being “inhuman.”

“There is so much professionalism in Karachi that humanity has been left behind,” she added.

‘Deals’ in Modern Relationships

The actress went further, touching on how relationships work within Karachi’s social fabric. She alleged that many men approach women with transactional offers.

“It’s like a deal if you agree to be someone’s girlfriend, you’ll get material benefits. If not, they move on without caring,” she claimed.

Casting Couch and Exploitation

Perhaps most striking were her comments on harassment and exploitation in showbiz. Qudoos admitted that the so-called “casting couch” culture where individuals are pressured into sexual favors in exchange for roles remains a grim reality. She emphasized that this issue is not confined to women alone.

“Respect is not only for women. Men, too, are victims of harassment and face exploitation. Wrong things happen to them as well,” she stressed.

Reactions Expected

Her blunt remarks are likely to spark debate within the entertainment industry, as they touch on sensitive topics of morality, professionalism, and exploitation in both Lahore and Karachi. While some may see her comments as shedding light on uncomfortable truths, others are expected to push back against her sweeping generalizations.
