Nobel laureate says US holds power and influence it has failed to use to bring peace
Malala Yousafzai, a Nobel laureate and activist for girls’ education, criticized the US government for failing to use its power to end the conflict in Gaza. Speaking at the Financial Times Women in Business Summit, she also addressed claims that she had stayed silent on Israel’s alleged genocide of Palestinians.
“The US role in this has been disappointing to watch. The US holds a lot of power and influence but has failed to use it to create peace, bring stability, or save lives,” she said. She shared her hope that the US would take bigger steps to stop Israel’s genocide in Gaza, work toward a ceasefire, and ensure humanitarian aid gets to the area.
