KW&SC, Rangers Crack Down on Water Theft in Karachi’s Manghopir Area

In a joint operation to tackle the city’s ongoing water crisis, the Karachi Water & Sewerage Corporation (KW&SC), with support from the Rangers, launched a major crackdown on organized water theft in the Manghopir area.

According to officials from KW&SC’s Anti-Water Theft Cell, the operation focused on Ramzan Goth and Zebo Goth, where illegal pipelines were discovered siphoning water directly from main supply lines. These unauthorized connections were promptly disconnected.

Authorities confirmed that a similar action is being planned for Pakhtoonabad, another area reported to be deeply affected by systematic water theft.

Sources say KW&SC has gathered solid evidence not only against those involved in these illegal activities but also about the alleged political backing they’ve been receiving. Despite previous FIRs and police cases, the theft had continued unchecked in many locations.

Some key individuals identified in the latest operation include Gul Dad, Mian Dad, Obaidullah, and Pervaiz Mama. Their method was alarmingly systematic: they would tap into government water lines, store the stolen water in massive underground tanks at their residences, and then distribute it across the city via tankers for commercial sale.

Officials vowed to continue cracking down on such illegal networks, promising stricter action to ensure fair water distribution and prevent further loss to the public exchequer. Investigations are ongoing, and more actions are expected in the coming days.
