Karachi – August 4, 2025:
A tragic traffic accident claimed the life of a motorcyclist on Sunday after he was struck and run over by a speeding passenger bus near Pukhtoonabad, located in Karachi’s Manghopir area.
According to police sources, the victim sustained severe injuries in the collision and was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Despite efforts to save him, he succumbed to his wounds shortly after arrival.
The bus driver, who fled the scene immediately following the incident, was later apprehended by law enforcement. The vehicle involved has been taken into police custody as part of the ongoing investigation.
This fatal crash was one of several harrowing road tragedies reported across the city within a few short hours. Rescue officials confirmed that at least five people — including a woman — lost their lives in five separate traffic accidents on Sunday alone. The accidents occurred in different localities, including Korangi, Shah Faisal Colony, Landhi, Manghopir, and near the Radio Pakistan building.
Road safety advocates and officials are once again raising concerns as Karachi’s traffic chaos continues to spiral out of control. According to updated figures from city authorities, a staggering 536 people have died, and over 6,000 others have been injured in road accidents across the metropolis since the beginning of 2025.
With such alarming statistics, critics argue that more needs to be done — not just in terms of enforcement, but in creating real awareness about road safety, reckless driving, and the human cost of negligence behind the wheel.
