LAHORE — Karachi Boys emerged victorious in the third phase of the SSWMB Trophy Sindh Basketball Festival, defeating Hyderabad Boys 49–38 in an intense final match held at Sindh Agriculture University, Tandojam.
The atmosphere was electric as both sides fought hard for the title, but Karachi’s superior teamwork and precise shooting sealed the win. Hasan Ali led the scoring for the champions with 15 points, while Anbal Khan Marwat added 12 and Muaz Ashraf contributed 10. For Hyderabad, Yasir Hussain, Mohsin Khan, and Uzair Hussain were the standout performers, keeping their team competitive till the final whistle.
The prize distribution ceremony was attended by several sports officials and dignitaries, including Anwar Hussain Khanzada Director at Sindh Agriculture University and General Secretary of the Sindh Wrestling Association who awarded the winners. Ghulam Muhammad Khan (Patron SBBA), Aamir Sharif (Secretary SBBA), and Syed Naveed Akhtar (President HDBBA) were also present to celebrate the young athletes’ achievements.
Speaking at the event, Khanzada lauded Vice-Chancellor Dr. Altaf Ali Sial’s efforts in promoting sports alongside academics, emphasizing the importance of nurturing youth talent. Meanwhile, Patron SBBA Ghulam Muhammad announced that the festival’s fourth phase would take place in Nawabshah. He also revealed plans for a 25-member girls’ basketball coaching camp to be held in Sukkur after the National Games, with Alisha Jahangir appointed as the camp’s coordinator.
In addition, Khan shared that Quran recitation gatherings will be held across Sindh on Iqbal Day (November 9) to pray for the peaceful and successful conduct of the National Games under Sports Minister Sardar M. Bakhsh Mahar.
Earlier in the tournament, Karachi Boys had secured a convincing 51–32 victory over Mirpurkhas Boys, while Hyderabad Boys defeated Mirpurkhas 35–28 to reach the final. The third phase was efficiently supervised by Tournament Director Syed Naveed Akhtar of the Hyderabad District Basketball Association, ensuring fair play and smooth proceedings throughout the event.
The festival continues to shine as a platform for young talent, bringing together players from across Sindh and reaffirming the province’s growing enthusiasm for basketball.
