Iran’s Military Chief Thanks Pakistan for Support During Conflict with Israel

Iran’s top military commander, Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi, extended his country’s gratitude to Pakistan during a phone call with Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir on Sunday, acknowledging Islamabad’s vocal support during the recent 12-day conflict with Israel.

In the call, Gen. Mousavi praised what he described as Pakistan’s “courageous and principled stance” throughout the crisis, saying the people of Iran had taken note of Islamabad’s “bold condemnation” of Israel’s actions, which he labeled as unprovoked and targeting civilians, including women and children.

The conflict, which erupted on June 13, saw a flurry of Israeli strikes targeting senior Iranian military figures and nuclear facilities in Isfahan, Natanz, and Fordow. Iran retaliated with missile attacks on Israeli and U.S. assets in the region. A ceasefire was ultimately declared on June 24 under mounting international pressure.

According to Iranian state media, Gen. Mousavi accused the Trump-era U.S. administration of backing the Israeli strikes, adding that several Western powers “aided the enemy both politically and militarily.”

Despite the losses Iran suffered — including the death of key Revolutionary Guard commanders — Tehran claimed it was able to repel Israeli objectives and force a halt to hostilities. Iranian officials maintain that Israel unilaterally stopped its strikes by June 23.

During their conversation, Gen. Munir reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to peace and regional stability, noting that strong ties with Iran remain a priority. Both commanders agreed to maintain communication and coordination in the face of shared security challenges.

The exchange came days after one of the region’s most volatile flare-ups in years, leaving dozens dead and infrastructure heavily damaged on both sides. While tensions have eased for now, the diplomatic and military fallout continues to reverberate across the Middle East and beyond.
