ICC Fines Suryakumar Yadav, Haris Rauf for Code of Conduct Breaches

Dubai, September 27, 2025 — The International Cricket Council (ICC) has fined India’s captain Suryakumar Yadav and Pakistan pacer Haris Rauf for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct during the Asia Cup, while Pakistan batter Sahibzada Farhan escaped a fine but was officially warned.

According to ICC match referee Richie Richardson, Suryakumar and Rauf were both docked 30 percent of their match fees after separate incidents in the high-intensity India-Pakistan clashes earlier this month.

Suryakumar was sanctioned for comments referencing military conflict after the September 14 group-stage match, following a complaint lodged by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). Rauf’s penalty stemmed from his reaction to taunts from Indian fans during the September 21 Super Four fixture, when he gestured “6-0” and mimicked the downing of aircraft an action that prompted a complaint from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Meanwhile, Sahibzada Farhan avoided a fine despite raising eyebrows with his half-century celebration in which he mimicked firing a gun. Richardson issued him a formal warning after the BCCI raised the matter.

All three players contested the charges but were found in breach following hearings.

The rulings come against the backdrop of heightened tension between the two sides throughout the tournament. From India’s refusal to shake hands after their group-stage win to fiery on-field exchanges during the Super Four, the rivalry has been more heated than usual.

With both teams now set to face each other once again in the Asia Cup final in Dubai, the ICC’s disciplinary actions have only added to the build-up of what promises to be another fiercely contested encounter.
