Debutant Hasan Nawaz scored an unbeaten 63 to guide Pakistan to a five-wicket win over the West Indies in the first ODI of their series on Friday.
Chasing 281, Pakistan were struggling at 180 for 5 when Nawaz and Hussain Talat put together an unbroken 104-run partnership. Nawaz hit the winning boundary with seven balls to spare. He faced 54 balls, striking three sixes and five fours, while Talat finished on 41 off 37 deliveries with one six and four fours.
The West Indies had earlier scored 280 all out, with Evin Lewis making 60, Shai Hope 55, and Roston Chase 53. Shaheen Shah Afridi took four wickets for Pakistan.
Pakistan had chosen to bowl first, striking early as Afridi dismissed Brandon King in the first over. The West Indies innings saw steady contributions but collapsed in the later overs, with Naseem Shah taking three wickets in quick succession.
The second ODI is scheduled for Sunday, followed by the final game on Tuesday.
