Four Suspected RAW Agents Arrested in Karachi; Weapons and Sensitive Data Recovered

KARACHI: In a major security operation, Karachi police on Wednesday arrested four individuals allegedly linked to India’s intelligence agency, RAW, during a raid in the city’s Quaidabad area. Authorities say the suspects were involved in espionage and plotting terror attacks inside Pakistan.

The operation was jointly carried out by the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) and a federal intelligence agency, following a tip-off. SSP SIU Mohammed Shoaib Memon identified the suspects as Mohammed Khan alias Gullu, Yameen Malah, Akhter Thaheem, and Ghulam Qadir alias Akash.

“These men were working for RAW. Their arrest has foiled a major terrorist plot,” SSP Memon told reporters.

Police recovered two hand grenades, a Kalashnikov, a rifle, two pistols, and multiple mobile phones during the raid. According to investigators, the phones contained videos and photos of sensitive national installations, allegedly taken by the suspects and transmitted to Indian handlers using encrypted software.

The SSP further claimed that the group had admitted to meeting RAW and Indian Border Security Force (BSF) officers in border areas, where they were allegedly given cash, liquor, and other valuable gifts in return for information and reconnaissance.

The mobile phones have been sent for forensic analysis as investigators seek to uncover more details about the group’s network and communications.

Authorities believe the arrests have disrupted a significant threat to national security and have vowed to continue cracking down on foreign-backed sabotage operations.
