ISTANBUL — In a significant diplomatic push for peace, foreign ministers from eight Muslim-majority nations have convened in Istanbul today for a high-level summit focused on the Gaza crisis. The meeting, hosted by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, aims to strengthen collective efforts toward enforcing a lasting ceasefire and addressing the worsening humanitarian situation in the region.
Representatives from Türkiye, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Egypt, Jordan, Indonesia, and the United Arab Emirates are in attendance. Pakistan’s delegation is being led by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, who is expected to reaffirm Islamabad’s support for the Palestinian cause and demand an immediate halt to Israeli hostilities.
Diplomatic sources say the summit’s agenda centers on two key priorities ensuring Israel’s compliance with the Gaza ceasefire and mobilizing coordinated humanitarian assistance for civilians affected by the ongoing violence. Turkish Foreign Minister Fidan is also expected to raise strong concerns over Israel’s continued military actions and its disregard for recent truce commitments.
According to Pakistan’s Foreign Office, the delegation will urge the full implementation of the ceasefire agreement and call for the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from all occupied Palestinian territories, particularly Gaza. Officials stressed that the protection of Palestinian civilians and unimpeded delivery of humanitarian aid remain the foremost priorities.
Despite the ceasefire formally taking effect last month, Israeli forces have continued their operations, killing at least 236 Palestinians and injuring nearly 600 others since the truce began. The renewed violence has drawn international criticism, with calls mounting for stronger action to prevent further escalation.
The Istanbul summit represents a unified diplomatic effort to press for accountability and peace, as regional leaders seek to amplify their collective voice on one of the most urgent humanitarian crises of the modern era.
