KARACHI — Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon on Monday assured that the flood situation at Guddu, Sukkur, and Kotri barrages remains under control, even as Panjnad and Trimmu barrages face the most critical pressure from rising waters.

Sharing official figures, Memon said Panjnad Barrage had recorded an inflow and outflow of 524,762 cusecs, while Trimmu reported 531,993 cusecs. At Guddu, inflow stood at 425,813 cusecs against an outflow of 416,763 cusecs. The minister stressed that rescue teams are working around the clock in high-risk districts, shifting families to safer areas. “This is not just an operation it is a service to humanity. The Sindh government stands firmly with its people in every difficult time,” Memon said.

According to him, Rescue 1122 teams have been saving not only human lives but also livestock, food stocks, and household goods to minimize losses. Between August 31 and September 7, rescue workers evacuated 380 people across several districts.

The largest operation took place in Sukkur, where 69 villagers were rescued from Imam Bakhsh Jatoi, Bashirabad, and Haji Fakir Muhammad Jatoi. In Shaheed Benazirabad, teams relocated 147 people, along with 30 cattle, 40 solar panels, and wheat sacks. Another 147 individuals were rescued in Naushahro Feroze, while in Khairpur Mirs, five people were safely evacuated from Gul Hassan village.

Memon praised the professionalism of Rescue 1122, saying their swift action had provided relief to thousands of affected families. He added that the provincial government and local administration would continue to provide every possible form of support as the situation evolves.
