RAWALPINDI — In a deeply disturbing incident, a man in Rawat allegedly shot and killed his 16-year-old daughter after she refused to delete her TikTok account. The family initially tried to present the murder as a suicide, but a police investigation has since uncovered the truth.
According to the FIR filed by Head Constable Shahbaz Anjum, the accused, Ikhlaq Ahmed, had repeatedly asked his daughter, Mahak Shehzadi, to remove her social media presence, specifically her TikTok account. When she refused, an argument escalated, and in a fit of rage—allegedly driven by notions of “honour”—Ikhlaq opened fire, fatally shooting her.
The shocking act was initially concealed by the family, who claimed Mahak had taken her own life. However, discrepancies in their statements and evidence from the crime scene led investigators to suspect foul play. A post-mortem examination confirmed the death was a homicide, not a suicide.
After the killing, Ikhlaq fled the scene. But within hours, a police team led by SHO Zahid Zahoor tracked him down and arrested him. City Police Officer (CPO) Rawalpindi, Khalid Hamdani, took immediate notice of the case and ordered a comprehensive investigation under the supervision of SP Saddar Nabeel Khokhar.
Officials confirmed that crucial evidence was collected from the crime scene, and a case has been registered under stringent charges. CPO Hamdani emphasized that violence against women and children will not be tolerated under any circumstances. “Anyone found involved—directly or indirectly—will be brought to justice,” he said.
The case has sent shockwaves through the local community and once again raised urgent questions about the dangers of so-called “honour” crimes and the misuse of patriarchal authority within families.
