Dumper Crushes Two Men, Child on Motorbike in Thatta

HYDERABAD – August 17, 2025:
Tragedy struck on the Thatta-Sujawal road Sunday when a speeding dumper truck crushed two men and a child riding on a motorbike, leaving all three dead on the spot.

The victims were identified as Irshad Shah, Karo Aijaz Shah, and Shahnaz, daughter of Ameer Shah. All were residents of Bulri Shah Kareem in Tando Muhammad Khan district. Witnesses said the heavy vehicle ran over the motorbike with such force that the two-wheeler was completely mangled.

This was the second deadly accident of its kind on the same stretch of road within a week. Just days earlier, three young men had lost their lives after being struck by another dumper.

According to local resident Muhammad Bux Khoso, who led a protest following Sunday’s incident, the truck driver initially fled the scene. “He tried to escape with his vehicle, but local men on motorbikes chased him down and managed to stop the truck,” Khoso told reporters. The driver, identified as Maila Marwat Khan, was later handed over to police. Authorities seized the vehicle and placed the suspect in custody, though an FIR had yet to be filed by Sunday evening.

The bodies of the deceased were shifted to Government Hospital Makli for postmortem examinations.

Enraged residents staged a protest, accusing police of negligence and turning a blind eye to reckless dumper drivers. “These trucks are allowed to move freely through the city without checks, while innocent lives are being lost,” one protester said.
