ISLAMABAD:
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar is set to travel to Saudi Arabia for a two-day visit from August 25–26, where he will attend an extraordinary session of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers in Jeddah.
Dar will proceed to the Kingdom directly after completing his official trip to Bangladesh, according to the Foreign Office.
The high-level gathering will bring together foreign ministers and senior representatives from across the Muslim world to discuss the worsening situation in Gaza. The agenda focuses on Israel’s ongoing military campaign, its reported plans to impose full control over the enclave, and the persistent violations of Palestinian rights.
As part of the proceedings, the deputy prime minister is expected to reaffirm Pakistan’s long-standing support for the Palestinian people. Officials said Dar will urge member states to push back against any attempt by Israel to extend military occupation or forcibly displace civilians. He will also call for immediate, unhindered humanitarian aid to reach Gaza and underscore Pakistan’s demand for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, based on pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
On the sidelines of the OIC meeting, Dar is also scheduled to hold bilateral engagements with counterparts from key member countries, the Foreign Office confirmed.
