KARACHI:
A noticeable contradiction has emerged between the statements of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) regarding the rain forecast for Karachi this week.
The Meteorological Department has reassured the public, stating that heavy rain is not expected in Karachi this week. However, they noted that light drizzle could occur during the early morning and late-night hours. According to their forecast, the city will experience partly cloudy weather with a hot and humid atmosphere throughout the day, accompanied by bright sunshine. Due to the high humidity, the temperature will feel hotter than usual, with the maximum expected to reach 34°C.
On the other hand, the NDMA had issued an alert predicting the possibility of rains across Sindh, including Karachi, from August 30 to September 2. The NDMA’s forecast mentions the potential for rainfall in various districts, including Karachi, Hyderabad, Thatta, Badin, and other parts of the province. In particular, the NDMA raised concerns about the risk of urban flooding in Karachi due to the heavy downpours expected.
The contrasting forecasts from the two institutions have caused some confusion among residents, leaving them uncertain about the weather conditions to expect in the coming days. The situation remains fluid, with the public waiting for further updates.
