August 27, 2025 – Travelers using Islamabad International and Jinnah International Airport Karachi will now have to pay more for parking, as authorities quietly announced a hike in charges.
Under the revised rates, the parking fee for the first three hours has gone up from Rs 100 to Rs 120. After that period, the per-hour charge has been increased from Rs 50 to Rs 70.
Passengers, however, have expressed frustration, pointing out that despite the increased fees, basic facilities such as shaded parking or vehicle security remain absent. “They take more money but offer no responsibility for our cars,” one traveler remarked. Civil Aviation Authority officials have so far declined to comment on the matter.
The move comes at a time when the Sindh government has provided major relief to Karachi residents by completely abolishing roadside parking fees across 25 towns. According to an official notification, parking charges are now banned on all urban roads, with collections allowed only in designated plazas, plots, or council-approved spaces. The directive also warned of strict action against anyone illegally charging citizens.
For many, the contrast is striking: while Karachi residents have been freed from roadside parking fees, airport passengers continue to face rising costs without improved facilities.
