CPEC Phase-II to Deepen Pakistan-China Ties

Tianjin: Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal has said that the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) will mark a new chapter in bilateral cooperation, widening the scope of partnership in ports, renewable energy, biotechnology, and the livestock sector.

Speaking during his visit to Tianjin, the minister stressed that CPEC Phase-II would serve as a driver of economic growth, technological progress, and sustainable development, laying a strong foundation for long-term collaboration between Pakistan and China.

Iqbal toured the Huan Sheng New Energy Solar Plant, which he described as a “symbol of the fourth industrial revolution” and a showcase of automation. He noted that Pakistan is determined to integrate such modern technologies into its energy landscape, with a particular focus on renewable and green solutions to address future challenges.

Highlighting the importance of energy transformation, he said solar and green energy must be central to Pakistan’s development path. He invited Chinese companies to invest in Pakistan’s renewable sector, saying that such ventures would not only ensure affordable and sustainable power but also create jobs and lower costs for industries and consumers alike.

On agriculture, the minister underlined that biotechnology will be a key area of focus in the new phase of CPEC. He said cooperation with China in agricultural research and innovation would help Pakistan boost productivity, improve farming practices, and strengthen food security.

Iqbal also visited an animal vaccine manufacturing facility, where he encouraged the company to establish a plant in Pakistan. Calling livestock a “pillar of the national economy,” he said disease-free animals would enhance meat exports and improve Pakistan’s competitiveness in global markets.
