Postmortem Reveals Key Details About Woman’s Body Found in Drum in Karachi

Karachi: The postmortem examination of the woman’s body recovered from a drum near the Malir River in Sharafi Goth has been completed, uncovering crucial details in the investigation.

According to police officials, an inquiry is underway after the body of an unidentified woman was discovered stuffed inside a blue plastic drum near the river in Karachi’s Sharafi Goth area.

SSP Malir Dr Abdul Khaliq Pirzada confirmed that the postmortem revealed the body was approximately 10 to 12 days old. He added that attempts to identify her through fingerprint analysis had failed due to the advanced state of decomposition.

“A case has been registered at the Sharafi Goth police station on behalf of the state, and investigations are ongoing from multiple angles,” SSP Pirzada said.

Police stations across the city have been directed to check for any missing person reports matching the woman’s description. Officers have also contacted one family in connection with the case, but the woman remains unidentified.

It may be recalled that the body was discovered two days ago after local residents spotted the drum near Jaji Shambe Goth, close to a dam on the Malir River. Police registered a murder case against unknown suspects.

The Lady Medical Legal Officer (MLO) collected three organ samples during the postmortem for further forensic examination. Initial findings suggest the woman was murdered by more than one person and then locked inside the drum out of malice before her body was dumped in the area.

Police officials said the suspects fled the scene after disposing of the body, and efforts are underway to trace those involved in what investigators describe as a cold-blooded killing.
