Bilawal Bhutto Urges India to Resume Dialogue, Calls for Kashmir Resolution and End to Water Weaponization

Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, has called on India to return to the negotiating table and work with Pakistan toward lasting regional peace. Speaking at a conference in Islamabad on Wednesday, Bilawal stressed that meaningful dialogue is the only way forward to resolve longstanding issues between the two neighbors — particularly the dispute over Jammu and Kashmir.

“The Jammu and Kashmir conflict must be resolved in line with the wishes of the Kashmiri people,” he said, reiterating Pakistan’s long-standing stance. He also voiced concern over what he described as the “weaponization of water,” urging India to abandon any such strategies and commit instead to cooperation over shared resources.

Turning his focus to Pakistan’s battle against terrorism, Bilawal detailed the sacrifices the nation has made over the past two decades. “Pakistan has paid a huge price — in both blood and economic hardship — in the fight against terrorism,” he stated. “Yet, we have achieved remarkable success.”

He urged the international community to study Pakistan’s approach and learn from its hard-earned experiences in combating violent extremism.

“Terrorism knows no boundaries. It has no nationality, religion, caste, or creed,” Bilawal remarked. “It is a menace that disregards all laws and humanity. Only a united, global response can defeat it.”

His remarks come at a time of heightened regional tensions and shifting global security priorities, underscoring Pakistan’s desire to reassert its position as a key player in regional peace efforts.

The PPP chairman’s address was a mix of caution and hope — a call for dialogue, a plea for justice in Kashmir, and a reminder that peace and security require not only courage but cooperation on all fronts.
