Speeding Water Tanker Claims Life of Motorcyclist in Korangi

A tragic accident in Karachi’s Korangi area took the life of a 51-year-old motorcyclist on Sunday. The incident happened near Vita Chowrangi, where a speeding water tanker struck a motorcycle, killing the rider instantly.

Police say the accident took place within the jurisdiction of the Korangi Industrial Area police station. The victim, identified as Hashim, son of Akhtar Ali, was a resident of Korangi. His body was taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for legal formalities, and later handed over to his grieving family after completion of medico-legal procedures.

According to police officials, the tanker driver fled the scene right after the collision. While the vehicle has been impounded, efforts are underway to arrest the driver and hold him accountable.

Sadly, this isn’t an isolated incident. Just two days earlier, on Friday, 15 people were injured when a passenger bus collided with a water tanker near the Police Training Centre in Razzaqabad, along the National Highway. Witnesses said the tanker was trying to overtake the bus and kept honking aggressively before the crash.

Incidents like these highlight the growing dangers on Karachi’s roads — especially with heavy vehicles driving recklessly. For many families like Hashim’s, a routine day turned into a nightmare. Authorities say investigations are ongoing, but the public is once again left asking: When will our roads become safer?
