Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has once again underscored Pakistan’s unwavering support for the establishment of a sovereign and viable Palestinian state, rooted in the pre-1967 borders with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital a stance he described as the cornerstone of Pakistan’s Middle East policy.
The prime minister made the remarks after concluding his two-day visit to Sharm El-Sheikh, where he participated in the Gaza Peace Summit hosted by Egypt. As he departed for Pakistan, he was seen off by Egypt’s Minister of Culture, Ahmed Fouad Hanno, and other senior officials.
Before leaving Egypt, Prime Minister Shehbaz shared his reflections on X (formerly Twitter), describing the moment as potentially transformative for the cause of peace in the region. He expressed Pakistan’s deep and historic solidarity with the Palestinian people, emphasizing that their freedom, dignity, and prosperity remain of fundamental importance to the Pakistani nation.
He reiterated that Pakistan’s immediate and primary concern is to see an end to the ongoing violence and suffering in Gaza, which he termed a “genocidal campaign.” The prime minister noted that Pakistan has consistently raised its voice on this issue, working closely with other brotherly nations to push for an urgent ceasefire and lasting peace.
In his message, Shehbaz Sharif also acknowledged the efforts of President Trump, expressing hope that he would play a constructive role in helping to halt the bloodshed and fulfill his commitment toward a peaceful resolution.
“Pakistan will continue to support all meaningful efforts aimed at restoring peace and justice in Palestine,” the prime minister stated, reaffirming that the formation of a strong, independent Palestinian state along the 1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its rightful capital, will forever remain central to Pakistan’s foreign policy vision.
