PM Shehbaz Sharif Embarks on Key Visits to Saudi Arabia, UK, and the US

ISLAMABAD — Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has begun an important foreign tour, starting today with a two-day visit to Saudi Arabia. The trip underscores Pakistan’s close partnership with the Kingdom and is expected to cover a wide range of political, economic, and religious engagements.

During his stay in Riyadh, the Prime Minister will hold a high-level meeting with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Both leaders are set to review bilateral relations, explore new avenues for cooperation in trade, investment, and energy, and exchange views on broader issues facing the Muslim world. Security and regional stability are also likely to feature prominently in their discussions. In addition, Prime Minister Shehbaz is scheduled to perform Umrah in Makkah, a deeply symbolic act of devotion for Muslims worldwide.

Following his engagements in Saudi Arabia, the Prime Minister will fly to London, where he is expected to meet Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president and former premier Nawaz Sharif. The meeting will focus on internal consultations and the party’s strategy for the coming months.

The final leg of his tour will take him to the United States, where he will attend the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) session in New York. Prime Minister Shehbaz is slated to address world leaders, presenting Pakistan’s position on pressing global issues such as climate change, regional peace, and economic development.

On the sidelines of the UNGA, he is also expected to hold bilateral meetings with several international leaders, including U.S. President Donald Trump. These discussions are being closely watched as Pakistan seeks to strengthen its diplomatic engagement and enhance cooperation with Washington at a time of shifting regional dynamics.
