Three FC Personnel Martyred in Suicide Attack on Peshawar Headquarters

PESHAWAR — A tragic suicide attack on the Federal Constabulary (FC) headquarters in Peshawar’s Saddar area on Monday morning claimed the lives of three FC personnel and left two others injured, police confirmed.

The assault occurred shortly after 8 a.m. on one of the city’s busiest roads. Video footage showed a terrorist, disguised in a chaddar, detonating himself at the main gate. Two other assailants attempted to breach the compound but were immediately neutralized by FC personnel.

Peshawar Capital City Police Officer Dr. Mian Saeed Ahmad stated that the timely alertness and preparedness of security forces prevented the attackers from causing greater devastation. A clearance operation was carried out promptly after the attack. The banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) faction, Jamatul Ahrar, claimed responsibility.

The incident prompted emergency protocols at Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) and Khyber Teaching Hospital (KTH), where 11 injured were admitted to LRH and one to KTH.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the attack, praising the quick action of security forces and reaffirming the government’s commitment to eradicating terrorism. President Asif Ali Zardari and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also condemned the attack, offering condolences to the families of the martyrs and commending the bravery of FC personnel.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi paid tribute to the martyrs, emphasizing that such cowardly acts would not weaken morale. He directed authorities to provide the best care for the injured and vowed that terrorists would be brought to justice.

The KP Governor Faisal Karim Kundi and political parties, including PTI, echoed these sentiments, lauding the sacrifices of security forces and reaffirming national unity against terrorism.

This attack marks another escalation in terror activities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and comes less than three months after a similar incident in Bannu, highlighting the ongoing threats to security personnel in the region.
