FAISALABAD: Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has unveiled plans to build a brand-new international airport in Faisalabad, marking one of its most significant aviation projects in recent years.
The proposed facility is expected to reshape air travel across central Punjab, providing state-of-the-art infrastructure, faster passenger services, and enhanced international connectivity. Aviation analysts believe the project will serve as a catalyst for regional growth, particularly benefiting Faisalabad’s textile exporters, who will gain direct access to global markets without depending on airports in Lahore or Islamabad.
According to officials, the PAA has begun the initial phase by engaging consultants to design and plan the airport. Once the blueprint is finalized, construction will commence, positioning Faisalabad as a key aviation hub in the country.
In a parallel development, Pakistan’s aviation industry is also seeing fresh international activity. Saudi Arabia’s budget carrier, Flyadeal, has announced the launch of new flights between Sialkot and Riyadh starting August 26. The airline will operate three weekly services, aiming to serve the large Pakistani diaspora living in the Kingdom.
Taken together, these initiatives highlight a period of expansion for Pakistan’s aviation sector, promising better connectivity, more business opportunities, and an improved travel experience for passengers.
