RAWALPINDI:
Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir on Friday held wide-ranging talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Rawalpindi, focusing on regional security, counterterrorism, and avenues to deepen bilateral cooperation.
According to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), both sides underlined their shared commitment to advancing peace, stability, and prosperity in the region. They also reaffirmed the resolve to further consolidate the “all-weather” strategic partnership between Pakistan and China and to enhance coordination at both regional and global forums.
During the meeting, Wang Yi reiterated Beijing’s firm support for Pakistan’s sovereignty and long-term development goals. Field Marshal Munir, in turn, expressed appreciation for China’s consistent diplomatic and economic backing.
The Chinese foreign minister concluded his three-day official visit to Pakistan later in the day. He was seen off at the airport by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar, along with Pakistan’s Ambassador to Beijing, China’s Ambassador in Islamabad, and senior government officials.
