Islamabad – August 7, 2025:
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar has stressed the urgent need for a comprehensive overhaul of Pakistan’s approach to overseas employment, calling for greater investment in skill development and a strategic shift in labour export policies.
Chairing a high-level meeting in Islamabad on Wednesday, Dar reviewed the country’s existing framework on Emigration, Overseas Employment, and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). The session, attended by key stakeholders, focused on aligning Pakistan’s workforce with the evolving demands of the global job market.
Dar underscored the importance of diversifying into new employment sectors and tapping unexplored international markets to provide better opportunities for Pakistani workers abroad. He emphasized that boosting skilled labour exports is not just about increasing remittances—it’s about reshaping Pakistan’s economic identity on the world stage.
“The government is fully committed to revamping skill development institutions and enhancing our global competitiveness,” the deputy prime minister said. “Expanding access to international employment will open new doors for our youth and strengthen the flow of foreign remittances, which is vital for our economy.”
He also highlighted the need for cohesive policy reforms that bridge the gap between local training standards and international employer expectations.
Dar’s remarks come at a time when Pakistan is actively seeking ways to stabilize its economy and create sustainable income avenues for its growing workforce.
