KARACHI — In one of the biggest recent robbery incidents in the city, armed men looted Rs 15 million in cash from the employees of a goldsmith in Karachi’s Liaquatabad area before fleeing the scene.
According to police, the case has been registered on the complaint of Muhammad Farhan, who said he was carrying the amount along with two colleagues, Yasin and Rehan. The money was meant to be handed over to a customer, Farhan Zahoor.
Farhan told investigators that as they reached Liaquatabad, six men on three motorcycles intercepted them at gunpoint and forcibly took away the cash. The robbers escaped within minutes, leaving the victims shaken but unharmed.
Police officials confirmed that a formal FIR has been lodged against unidentified suspects, and teams are gathering evidence from the site. Authorities said efforts are underway to obtain CCTV footage from the area to help trace the culprits.
The brazen daytime robbery has once again raised concerns over law and order in Karachi, where incidents of street crime and armed heists continue to haunt citizens.
