Divorced Barber Arrested for Alleged Kidnapping, Rape, and Murder of Seven-Year-Old Girl in Sindh

HYDERABAD: Police have apprehended a divorced barber in connection with the shocking kidnapping, rape, and murder of seven-year-old Aamna Kundrani in Mirpurkhas district, Sindh. Authorities confirmed that the suspect has no history of mental illness or drug abuse.

According to SSP Mirpurkhas Sumair Noor Channa, the suspect, identified as Zahid Khaskheli, was arrested on Tuesday around 1 PM, just three days after Aamna’s body was discovered near a distributary in the Jhalori area. The child had been abducted on November 4, and preliminary investigations suggest that the heinous act took place within an hour of her disappearance.

Khaskheli reportedly lured the child to a vacant, ruined school building, where the crime occurred. The next morning, he allegedly placed her body in a sack and disposed of it in the Jamrau distributary. Police recovered a nebulising pipe, which was allegedly used to strangle the child to death.

During the investigation, Khaskheli confessed to his involvement, while DNA and postmortem reports are expected to strengthen the case. Witnesses indicated that two men were involved in the abduction, and police are actively searching for the second suspect.

SSP Channa stressed the importance of parental vigilance, noting that Khaskheli was familiar to the child and had previously given her pocket money and confectionery. He urged society to educate children on safety and the dangers of trusting strangers, even those they know.

Aamna’s father, Ghulam Haider Kundrani, expressed satisfaction with the police inquiry and demanded strict punishment for the suspect. The FIR has been registered at the local police station, and sections related to murder and rape will be formally added once medical reports are received.
