The interaction, which also included Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, was described as cordial and constructive by officials.
According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, the meeting was held in a warm and friendly atmosphere, underscoring the improving ties between Islamabad and Washington. Prime Minister Sharif praised President Trump’s “bold, courageous, and decisive leadership,” noting his efforts to promote global stability and resolve conflicts.
Highlighting recent developments, the Prime Minister credited Trump’s role in facilitating the ceasefire agreement between Pakistan and India. He also commended the US President’s push for an immediate end to hostilities in Gaza, describing it as a vital step toward peace in the Middle East.
The statement further noted that Sharif welcomed the initiative of inviting key Muslim leaders to New York this week for a comprehensive dialogue on lasting peace in the region, particularly in Gaza and the West Bank.
