PM Shehbaz Commends Pakistan Air Force for Upholding National Sovereignty

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday lauded the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) for its unwavering commitment to safeguarding the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, highlighting the Air Force’s long-standing legacy of courage and professionalism.

During a meeting with Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmad Babar Sidhu at the Prime Minister’s Office, Sharif emphasized the pivotal role of the PAF in defending Pakistan’s skies. “The valiant Shaheens of the Pakistan Air Force stand as an impregnable shield in the defense of our motherland,” he remarked, acknowledging the sacrifices and dedication of the airmen.

The Prime Minister recalled the Air Force’s crucial contributions during historic military operations, noting instances where Pakistani pilots delivered decisive blows to adversaries and shot down enemy aircraft. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening Pakistan’s defence infrastructure and enhancing the operational capabilities of the Air Force.

The discussion also focused on recent military confrontations with India. In May, during a four-day conflict, Pakistan downed six Indian fighter jets, including three Rafale aircraft, while safeguarding civilian areas in Punjab and Azad Jammu and Kashmir from further escalation. Sharif and Sidhu discussed lessons learned from these engagements and strategies to maintain a robust aerial defense, ensuring Pakistan’s readiness for any future challenges.

Both sides pledged to continue modernizing the PAF’s operational capacity and maintaining vigilance along the country’s borders, underscoring the importance of a strong air force in preserving national security.
