Pakistan Navy Assumes Honorary Guard Duties at Allama Iqbal’s Mausoleum

LAHORE — In a solemn and ceremonious event on Sunday, the Pakistan Navy officially took over honorary guard duties at Allama Iqbal’s Mausoleum, marking the symbolic handover from the Punjab Rangers. The ceremony celebrated the ongoing tradition of honoring the national poet, philosopher, and visionary, Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal.

The event commenced with a formal parade as the Navy contingent marched in to assume their prestigious responsibilities. Rear Admiral Sohail Ahmed Azmi, Commander Central Punjab, Pakistan Navy, was the chief guest and personally inspected the parade, reviewing both the outgoing Rangers and incoming Navy contingents.

The Punjab Rangers, who had faithfully served as the mausoleum’s ceremonial guards, were formally relieved of their duties, allowing the Pakistan Navy to take charge. The ceremony concluded with a heartfelt salute at Allama Iqbal’s tomb, followed by prayers for the nation’s peace, unity, and prosperity.

Dignitaries and visitors attending the event lauded the discipline, precision, and professionalism demonstrated by the Navy personnel. This annual tradition, observed on Iqbal Day, serves as a tribute to Pakistan’s founding thinkers and underscores the armed forces’ commitment to preserving the legacy of national heroes. It also reflects the country’s enduring respect for Iqbal’s vision of a progressive, united, and free Pakistan.
