English:
KARACHI — A rickshaw driver in Karachi attempted to take his own life by cutting his wrist, overwhelmed by the weight of repeated traffic fines.

Steel Town police took the man into custody after the incident. Covered in blood, he told reporters he felt hopeless, saying, “The poor don’t even have the right to live with dignity anymore.”

He said he’s fined almost daily while trying to earn a living to feed his children. “Every day it’s something—Rs 5,000, Rs 10,000—for no reason. How are we supposed to survive?”

According to him, it’s not just about the fines. Authorities also impound rickshaws, cutting off drivers’ only source of income.

The incident has sparked outrage in the community. Locals are calling for serious action against traffic police, accusing them of harassment and unfair treatment of working-class drivers.
