Jobless Man Arrested for Killing Two Daughters in Karachi

KARACHI – In a deeply disturbing incident, a jobless man allegedly murdered his two young daughters in North Nazimabad’s Block-G area on Tuesday morning, reportedly due to mounting financial troubles.

Police said the suspect, identified as 50-year-old Akbar Sattar, killed his daughters 15-year-old Aliya and 9-year-old Zainab by slitting their throats with a knife inside their home in Kausar Niazi Colony. Rescuers shifted the bodies to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for post-mortem examination.

Authorities arrested the accused at the scene and recovered the murder weapon. According to investigators, Akbar had been facing severe financial distress and was burdened by unpaid debts and pending “committee” payments.

Hyderi Market SHO Adeel Ahmed said that during questioning, the suspect gave conflicting statements, suggesting he might be trying to mislead the investigation. “He claimed he killed his elder daughter because she was talking to someone on the phone,” the SHO added.

Police said Akbar was the father of six children one son and five daughters. The two slain girls were his third and fourth children.

An FIR has been registered against the suspect at the Hyderi Market police station on the complaint of his married son, Arsalan. According to the report, Arsalan was at his in-laws’ house in the same colony when his aunt, Sakeena, informed him around 7 a.m. that his father had killed his two sisters.

Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the exact motive behind the gruesome killings.
